At a glance
- Packs per booster box
- 24
- Cards per pack
- 12
- Pack makeup
- 6 common, 3 uncommon, 2 rare or higher, 1 foil
- Starter deck
- A 60-card deck plus a booster pack
A Disney Lorcana booster box holds 24 booster packs, and each pack has 12 randomized cards: 6 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rare, super rare or legendary cards, and 1 foil of any rarity. That is 288 cards in a sealed box. A starter deck is different: a ready-to-play 60-card deck with a booster pack and tokens.
Ravensburger publishes Disney Lorcana and lists the contents on its official site. The counts below come from there and from the game’s Comprehensive Rules.
What is inside each pack
| Slot in the pack | Cards |
|---|---|
| Common | 6 |
| Uncommon | 3 |
| Rare, super rare or legendary | 2 |
| Foil (random rarity) | 1 |
| Total | 12 |
A full box of 24 packs therefore gives you 144 commons, 72 uncommons, 48 rare-or-higher cards and 24 foils, by that pattern. That is our arithmetic from Ravensburger’s pack makeup, not a separate count Ravensburger publishes.

Booster box or starter deck?
They do different jobs. Ravensburger’s First Chapter starter deck contains a 60-card deck (including 2 foil cards of the characters on the front of the package), 11 game tokens, a rulebook and one 12-card booster pack. The 2-Player Starter Set holds two ready-to-play 60-card decks, each with 2 special cards.
- New to the game: a starter deck or the 2-Player Starter Set. You can play the first game the day you open it.
- Building your own deck: a booster box gives you 288 cards from one set to build from.

The deck rules a box has to fit
Lorcana’s Comprehensive Rules set three limits on a deck:
- At least 60 cards, with no maximum.
- No more than two ink types.
- No more than 4 cards with the same full name.
Two inks is the rule that shapes your box opening. You will pull cards of every ink, and you will build from two of them, so a single box may not give you enough copies of the cards you want in your two colors. Adding a starter deck in your two inks is one way to fill the gaps.
Good to know
Lorcana cards are standard size, the same as Pokemon cards. Sleeve maker Dragon Shield lists Lorcana among the games its 63 x 88 mm standard sleeves fit, so standard sleeves work. See card sleeve sizes.
Starter products compared
| Product | What is inside | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Starter deck (The First Chapter) | 60-card deck with 2 foil cards, 11 game tokens, rulebook, 1 booster pack | One new player |
| 2-Player Starter Set | Two ready-to-play 60-card decks, each with 2 special cards | Two players learning together |
| Booster box | 24 packs of 12 random cards | Building your own deck |
Contents come from Ravensburger’s product pages. Later sets use the same pack makeup on their product pages, but check the exact contents of the set you are buying.
Making the most of duplicates
The 4-copy rule shapes what you do with a box. You can put up to 4 cards with the same full name in a deck, so the first 4 copies of a card you like are all useful. Copies past the fourth, and cards in inks you do not play, are trade material or the start of a second deck in two other inks.
Keep those cards sorted by ink as you open the packs. It makes building the next deck much quicker, since every deck is limited to two inks.
Buying a box safely
Buy sealed boxes from sellers with clear photos of the actual box and its wrap. Avoid listings described as repacks, resealed or “mystery” boxes, which are not factory-sealed displays. When the box is open, a 9-pocket trading card binder keeps the rares and foils flat, and a trading card storage box holds the rest.
